Fundamental Mind Theory (FMT)

FMT proposes that mind is a fundamental aspect of the universe, a view that fits with scientific evidence and resolves mysteries in science and philosophy that have existed for centuries.  A summary of FMT is provided below with the full theory published in our 2027 joint sequel Searching For Mind.

All forms of life have minds

All cells communicate, collaborate, and solve problems - skills that cannot been explained with existing science.  Click buttons to read summaries of our books which argue that cells have minds which combine to form more complex minds.  These books form the starting point for our search for mind deeper into matter.

How Minds Combine
Minds combine via the forces of nature

Asserting that minds can combine faces the classic "Combination Problem."  Our proposed solution demonstrates how rudimentary minds can combine into more complex minds using existing scientific theory.  The only assumption needed is that mind is subject to the same scientific laws as matter.

Molecular Mind
Molecules have minds

Recent scientific evidence demonstrates that sub-cellular organelles, droplets, viruses and even molecules can communicate, collaborate, and solve problems. These complex behaviors cannot be explained with existing science, yet can be easily understood by assuming that mind exists at the molecular scale.

It is a proven fact that simply observing quantum scale matter influences the behavior of that matter, forming the central mystery in quantum physics known as the "Observer Effect."  FMT defines mind as an "observer" which by extension enables mind to influence the behavior of matter at different scales.

Mind Influences Matter
Quantum Mind
Mind in the quantum vacuum

The quantum vacuum is the most fundamental thing known to science.  This energetic substrate grounds, powers & connects all matter and energy in the universe.  If mind is fundamental, logic dictates this quantum substrate must also ground, power & connect all minds in the universe.
